Nadine's Dance Center provides quality dance instruction in a healthy positive environment, encourages creativity, focuses on each student individually, and encompasses all areas of performing arts . We teach dance skills and performance skills that a student will use for a lifetime-but most importantly, we encourage self confidence and friendships! When you join Nadine's you become part of a family. The studio offers Classical Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Pointe, Contemporary, Modern, Musical Theater, and Ballroom.
THE JOURNEY:
NADINE ALTIERI: A lifelong native of Gloucester I knew at a very young age that I wanted to teach dance. I studied classical ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, pointe, and hip hop. After receiving a B.A. in Fine Arts Dance from Eastern Connecticut State University in '98 I returned to Gloucester in 1999 to pursue a teaching career. Throughout college, I was a varsity member of the nationally competitive Dance Team, a member of Repertory Dance Troupe, serving as President my junior year and senior year. Following graduation, I was hired by the University as the advisor, technical director, and choreographer for RDT and I also taught throughout Connecticut. Upon returning to Gloucester, I taught in Beverly, Gloucester, Danvers, North Shore Community College, and Hamilton-Wenham Public Schools. I established and coached Endicott College Dance Team for 5 years. After much traveling to teach, I opened Nadine's Dance Center in 2002.
Miss Nadine's students who elect to compete have received High Gold and Gold Awards, High Score Awards, several Special Recognition Awards, and bids to Nationals--the organization used-ALL entries receive a trophy standing-always winning!
ELIZABETH DUNN: is a senior at Salem State University studying Communications/Advertising and Dance. She has been dancing for 19 years studying Ballet at Josè Mateo's Ballet Theatre in Cambridge, and studied Jazz, Tap, Contemporary/Lyrical, Hip Hop, and Acro at Dance Company Inc. in Wakefield. Elizabeth has been in many productions including The Nutcracker, Aurora's Wedding, Cinderella, and Snow White. In 2003 she landed the principle role as Fidget Hailfly in Dance Company Inc's production, Journey Into Shadow Falls. In 2006 she was asked to join Josè Mateo's pre-professional ballet company YouthWorks. She also started to compete earning high golds, absolutes, special awards and was invited to Nationals. In 2008 she was 2nd runner up for Miss Dance Ovations, and landed the role of Dew Drop Fairy in The Nutcracker. Elizabeth is now teaching and danced and choreographed for Salem State's dance team and dance group, Repertory Dance Theatre. She hopes one day she can dance professionally in Boston or for Disney. Elizabeth is so excited to join the studio family!
BRENNA KENNEY: is a sophomore at Salem State University studying Early Childhood Education and Dance. She danced at Donna Coco's Performance Plus in Salisbury, MA for fifteen years and was a part of the competition company for 10 years. She is classically trained in ballet, contemporary, lyric, jazz and tap and she taught dance classes at Donna Coco's for three years. She is treasurer of the Repertory Dance Theatre at Salem State as well as a choreographer. She was also a member of the Salem State Dance Team this past year. She opened for the Radio City Rockettes at the Wang Theatre in Boston in 2010 and has filmed for MTV for dance research. She has had many opportunities to work with choreographers from New York and several other places in the country and is excited to have the opportunity to work with the students!
SHELLY: She has been part of Nadine's since the doors opened as her daughter has been a student since 2002. Shelly has been the office manager-bookkeeper for 4 years. She handles all student accounts and monetary records. She does unending volunteer work for the studio, is an integral contributor to the Jr. Company (her daughter is a member), making her a HUGE part of NDC family/staff!! Thank you Shelly!!
